Operations Manager


We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to manage our Miimi & Jiinda business.

The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience to the role, with previous experience in management essential. We are looking for someone who is extremely organised, has an eye for detail, able to set up systems and implement processes, and manage staff.

Some experience in finance or marketing is preferred, but not essential. 

This is a part-time role that will develop into a full-time position for the right candidate. We are eager to develop the role to fit the strengths, skills, and abilities of the individual. This is an Indigenous business so the ideal candidate will have experience, or passion for, working with Indigenous people, and a deep understanding and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their cultures and issues affecting them.


  • Proven experience in an Operations Management position or similar role 

  • Ideal, but not essential, experience in a retail management position (a good understanding of Shopify, POS systems, stocktake)

  • Strong analytical ability 

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills 

  • Outstanding organisational skills, we are seeking someone who loves to problem-solve and is naturally proactive and takes innovative

  • Holds a degree in a relevant field, or long work history. We are looking for someone who has experience in operations management, business administration, or related fields. 

  • The ability to communicate appropriately with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities 

  • Passionate about supporting and growing with a small business and brand


General Duties

  • Oversee all administrative and operational functions of the company

  • Overseeing daily operations of the business 

  • Develop operation systems and strategies to achieve the company’s target operations and sales.

  • Strategise and implement process improvements. 

  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable departments.

  • Implement improvements to streamline and grow internal systems.

  • Develop strategies to improve overall quality and productivity.

  • Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors).

Staff Management

  • Manage staff in workshop and store, and other areas of the business

  • Respond to employee concerns in a timely manner.

  • Provide direction and guidance to employees in their assigned job duties

  • Assist in employee recruitment, training, performance evaluation, promotion and termination activities for workshop and store.

  • Implement and maintain a safe and nurturing environment that encourages the skillset growth of staff

  • Ensuring a culturally safe physical space, guaranteeing that the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and customers are met.
