(Lomandra longifolia) a plant traditionally collected by the Gumbaynggirr women
The strappy leaves were used to weave baskets for carrying food as well as making eel traps and nets. Roots of the Lomandra were also used as a medicine for insect bites.
There is a special technique used in foraging lomandra its important to follow this protocol to ensure the plants continue to grow healthy and there's enough for everyone.
