Gathering basket with kookaburra feathers

 

This basket was traditionally used for collecting seeds in the bush and for sifting the seeds in the creek. Those seeds are then used to make flat bread. 

The style is called single loop weaving and netting with twining. 

This basket has taken 4 days to gather materials on local Gumbayngirr country and woven by Miimi and Jiinda founder and indigenous elder Lauren. 

Materials: Lomandra, pandanas, kurrajong bark and Kookaburra feather.
