Chewing Tobacco Storing double basket



This tough double basket with a lid was traditionally used for storing chewing tobacco or other plants that gave locals the energy to go hunting and going walkabout for weeks on end. The style is called single loop weaving and netting with twining. 

This basket has taken 7 days to gather materials on local Gumbayngirr country and woven by Miimi and Jiinda founder and indigenous elder Lauren. 

Materials: Swamp rushes, lomandra, pandanas, kurrajong bark and gum nuts.
