Miimi & Jiinda Unveil New Collection with Two Exclusive Events During Australian Fashion Week 2025

As Australian Fashion Week 2025 approaches, Miimi & Jiinda is proud to unveil our newest collection, Bambuuda Garlaawirr, through  two exclusive events: a private Media Showroom at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, and our participation in The Atelier Trade Show at  Carriageworks.

This is a landmark moment for our brand as we continue to expand our presence in the Australian fashion industry whilst staying grounded in the cultural and sustainability values that shape everything we do.

The Collection Story: Bambuuda Garlaawirr

Our new collection, Bambuuda Garlaawirr - meaning “first light” in Gumbaynggirr language draws on the sacred Dreaming stories of our ancestors. It honours the beginning of creation, when the first sun rose, the first moon glowed, and the first waters flowed through Country. These stories of origin are carried through every thread, stroke and silhouette in the collection.

Designed on Gumbaynggirr Country and made in collaboration with local makers in Sydney, the collection features flowing, feminine silhouettes in soft, earthy tones. Our signature hand-drawn motifs represent the energy of first creation, and each piece reflects our slow fashion values, with sustainability and cultural integrity woven into every detail.

A small number of hand-painted, hand-sewn one-of-a-kind pieces will also be featured, representing wearable artworks.

Media Showroom at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney

We’re excited to present Bambuuda Garlaawirr in an intimate media-only showroom at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel Sydney. This exclusive preview will offer press, stylists, and select industry insiders the opportunity to:

- Experience the new collection in a private, relaxed setting
- View one-off pieces not available to the public
-Learn the cultural stories and meaning behind each design
- Connect directly with our founder, designer and artist Melissa Greenwood and Master weaver Lauren Jarrett

This event marks an important opportunity to understand the depth and vision behind Miimi & Jiinda’s creative process, one rooted in Gumbaynggirr stories, identity, and purpose. Attending media will receive first access to imagery, press kits, and samples for upcoming editorials.
