Jindas Jaanymili (Sisters Gathering)
acrylic on canvas
100 x 140 cm (recycled timber frame)
This painting is inspired by a Gumbaynggirr Dreaming story which explains how the sea was made, here on Gumbaynggirr Country in the southern region. The story follows the journey of two sisters and a mopoke (a native owl). The sisters would communicate telepathically and each carried digging sticks which helped them pierce the sand and turn it into water.
All artwork is made and custom framed on Gumbaynggirr Country.
