Miimi & Jiinda's New Collection to Debut at Australian Fashion Week 2025: A Celebration of Culture, Country, and Contemporary Creation
We’re excited to announce that Miimi & Jiinda will officially debut our newest collection at Australian Fashion Week 2025, presented by Shark Beauty. Joining the lineup of incredible designers in the prestigious New Gen runway, we’ll be stepping onto one of the country's biggest fashion stages on Friday, 16 May 2025 at Carriageworks in Sydney.
This moment is more than a milestone for our brand—it’s a continuation of cultural storytelling, connection, and creativity, shared with a wider audience through the powerful medium of fashion.
Caring for Country & Storytelling
Our upcoming collection has been lovingly designed on Gumbaynggirr Jagun (Country) and brought to life in collaboration with local makers on Gadigal Country (Sydney). Staying true to our values of sustainability, slow fashion, and cultural integrity, each piece holds deep meaning and is a living expression of our values.
The collection features original artworks reimagined into textiles, along with a few very special one-of-a-kind garments—hand-painted and hand-woven using lomandra, and pandanus both collected from Country. Every garment carries the spirit of our matriarchal line, telling stories of resilience, strength and beauty.

A New Era for Australian Fashion—and for Miimi & Jiinda
This year marks a fresh chapter for Australian Fashion Week as it steps into a new era under the leadership of the Australian Fashion Council (AFC). The event has been reimagined to better champion creativity, sustainability, and the incredible depth of Australian fashion, both locally and on the world stage.
As featured in Harper’s BAZAAR Australia and Vogue Australia, this year's New Gen runway is shining a spotlight on designers who are helping to shape the future of fashion—and we’re so honoured to be among them. We’ll be showing alongside fellow talents Haluminous, Permanent Vacation, Buluuy Mirrii, and Boteh, all brands who share a spirit of innovation and authenticity.
Having the opportunity to be part of this movement feels deeply meaningful. It’s about so much more than fashion—it’s about creating space for new stories, new perspectives, and a more conscious future.
More Than Fashion: A Story of Connection and Change
“To showcase at Australian Fashion Week is profoundly important,” says Miimi & Jiinda founder Melissa Greenwood.
“It’s more than a moment in fashion—it’s a chance to celebrate our people, to bring our culture to the runway, and to share the stories that shape who we are as First Nations people. Fashion can be a powerful vessel for change, evolution, and collective healing.”
At Miimi & Jiinda, every brushstroke, every stitch, every thread is part of a bigger story—one that pays respect to our ancestors, uplifts our communities, and looks ahead to a more inclusive and conscious future.
This collection, and this moment, are a tribute to the generations who came before us, and to the next generations who will carry these stories forward.
