Bathed in the soft glow of dawn, Bambuuda Garlaawirr (Morning Light) reflects the beauty and interconnectedness of Gumbaynggirr Country.

Inspired by the pink pigface flowers that thrive amongst the coastal dunes, the work traces the meeting of the Bindarray River and Gaagal Ocean as their waters weave together across the landscape. Rich textures and gentle movement speak to the rhythms of Country and the stories held within it.

At the heart of the work is Gawngan, our revered female ancestor, whose spirit watches over and protects our people, reminding us of our connection to land, waters and culture.
